Matthew Leavitt, MD, just co-founded the DDx Foundation. He aims to progress prostate cancer research and treatment through digital diagnostics. The other founders are pathologists E. David Crawford, MD, and Karim Kader, MD, PhD.
“The DDx Foundation is aggregating data to defeat prostate cancer. Our national data-sharing network enables researchers and physicians to provide better treatments for men with prostate cancer,” said Leavitt.

Before founding this new initiative, Leavitt founded Lumea and PathNet. He completed his training at Dartmouth Medical School, a pathology residency, and two fellowships at Stanford University Hospitals. Before founding Lumea, he served as the department chair of a medical center. There, he served some of the most geographically remote communities in the United States. This experience is what fueled his passion for utilizing digital pathology to improve cancer care for underserved areas of the world.
