Why Collaborate With Lumea?

We collaborate with academic institutions to advance the next generation of cancer diagnostics. By streamlining the journey from the clinic to the microscope, we provide investigators with the tools needed to secure clean, reproducible data.
  • Standardized Needle Core Biopsy Processing: Prevent tissue curling, fracturing, and loss during grossing. Our flat-plane matrix architecture maximizes surface area for comprehensive evaluation.
  • Uncompromised Histopathology and Fixation Quality: Standardized, sponge-based formalin containment ensures rapid, even chemical fixation, eliminating core artifacting and structural degradation.
  • High-Fidelity Downstream Testing: Preserve DNA, RNA, and protein morphology. Clean pre-analytics yield higher quality inputs for molecular assays, sequencing, and multiplexed imaging.
  • Designed for Investigator-Led Projects: We provide the data infrastructure, innovative hardware, and research-grade tools; you provide the independent insight.

Tools for Independent Research

Blue BxBoard with tissue being placed in it

6-Lane BxBoard®

FDA REGISTERED & CE MARKED

Use case: 16-18g core needle biopsies

A flat-plane transport platform utilizing a specialized hydrophilic formalin-soaked sponge. Replaces formalin jars, preserving anatomical orientation and reducing fragmentation.

Blue plastic strip with vertical ridges and left-edge arrow markers indicating orientation.

6-Lane BxChip®

FDA REGISTERED & CE MARKED

Use case: 16-18g core needle biopsies

A patented, sectionable tissue array that consolidates up to six cores into a single high-yield block. Formulated to shrink evenly during processing, acting as an optical anchor for automated slide scanners to minimize refocusing lag.

BxCamera®

FDA REGISTERED

Use case: any tissue that fits in a cassette

A fixed-stage imaging system to ensure that lighting and zoom are standardized, allowing for pixel-level analysis. It will count the number of tissue pieces and provide 2D greatest size measurements. May be used as a measurement, chain of custody, or quality assurance tool.”

Focal Ring

Focal Ring®

FDA REGISTERED

Use case: small tissue biopsies and cytology samples

Functions as a physical focus-assist fiducial, ensuring that low-density cytology specimens are digitized with the same Z-stack precision as high-density tissue cores.

4-Lane BxBoard®

RESEARCH USE ONLY

Use case: 11-14g core needle biopsies

A flat-plane transport platform utilizing a specialized hydrophilic formalin-soaked sponge. Replaces formalin jars, preserving anatomical orientation and reducing fragmentation.

Blue plastic strip with four vertical ridges and a serrated left edge, featuring small arrow marks along the side.

4-Lane BxChip®

RESEARCH USE ONLY

Use case: 11-14g core needle biopsies

Adapted sectionable polymer optimized for 11–14 Gauge core biopsies (targeted at advanced breast and soft tissue structural research). Engineered to maintain strict linear morphology for macro-dissection accuracy.

Two blue rectangular plastic filter panels with vertical slats, each having left-edge tabs with arrows and small holes/dots for alignment. Likely filter components or vent panels.

Multi-Well BxChip® Matrices

RESEARCH USE ONLY

Use case: multiplexing fragmented biopsies

High-density micro-well arrays designed to accept micro-fragments (up to 4mm–7mm). Allows massive sample multiplexing into a single physical paraffin block, reducing downstream spatial sequencing costs.

Blue plastic strip with vertical ridges and left-edge arrow markers indicating orientation.

Sterile BxChip®

RESEARCH USE ONLY

Use case: 16-18g core needle biopsies

A sterile, patented, sectionable tissue array that consolidates up to six cores into a single high-yield block. Formulated to shrink evenly during processing, acting as an optical anchor for automated slide scanners to minimize refocusing lag.

Purple four-slot plastic cartridge with four vertical rectangular openings, sealed in a clear bag

Sterile BxBoard®

RESEARCH USE ONLY

Use case: 16-18g core needle biopsies, 11-14g core biopsies

A flat-plane transport platform utilizing a specialized hydrophilic formalin-soaked sponge. Replaces formalin jars, preserving anatomical orientation and reducing fragmentation.

Benchtop laboratory instrument with a small display and round buttons on a stand; a clear tube connects to the top in a metal lab setting.

CytoPod®

RESEARCH USE ONLY

Use case: cytology samples

It employs a vacuum-assisted filtration path that captures diagnostic cells on a single plane. This creates concentric rings of monolayer cells within a 3D structural block.

Open contact lens case with blue lens storage cup and a white contact lens resting on a bed of blue granules inside a clear case.

CytoPod ® Consumables

RESEARCH USE ONLY

The internal membrane of the CytoPod is a precision-engineered substrate designed for selective retention. The pore size is optimized to allow for the passage of debris and supernatant while retaining diagnostic cellular clusters and individual cells. The membrane itself ensures that when the block is sectioned, the cells are suspended in the paraffin matrix.

Two turquoise plastic orthodontic bracket templates laid side by side, each with metal bracket pieces aligned in slots, photographed from above on a speckled surface.

Comparative Tissue-Mimetic Co-Embedding Matrix

RESEARCH USE ONLY

Use case: multiplexing

A specialized embedding matrix array that standardizes microtomy for labs processing mixed sizes/shapes, multiple patients, or cross-species samples.

BxCollect®

RESEARCH USE ONLY

Use case: small biopsy specimens

A biopsy transport container that replaces standard formalin-filled jars. Intended for specimens with a surface area of 5mm² or less and no more than 3mm thick.
